Reclaimed Plywood On Granite

‘Wayfarer’ was my first abstract done in reclaimed plywood off a local construction site. Utilizing used plywood and yellow cedar from an old mantelpiece revealed to me how fascinating it is to work with found materials as the medium sort of leads the work. You work with whatever imperfections you find (holes, screws, nails, etc.) and incorporate them into the work. In this piece I loved the fluidity of it and the graceful shapes the wood took on. And since you have virtually no idea where you are going to end up when you start it becomes an exercise in imagination to know when you get there.
