Bronze

The fourth in the Wayfarer bronze series is ‘On the Waves’. Starting from the same mold as ‘Otter’ it bears absolutely no resemblance to ‘Otter’. Much more simple in line and form, to some it seems inspired by at any given time seals, birds, saxophones, jazz notes and loons. In actual fact I loved the upright stance of the original wood Wayfarer and wanted to maintain that but add much more of the sea to it. Again, using the elegant mirror finish bronze line to define the piece I wanted to capture that shape birds have as they sit atop the ocean waters without actually doing a bird. I used deep greens and blacks to give a worn lived-in look and feel and wanted it to have that glorious sheen that wet things do on the water.
